AMS Spelling Bee
Eighth grade student, Yenchen Xiong, survived 22 rounds in the Altoona Middle School Spelling Bee to advance to the Regional Spelling Bee in Neillsville, WI, which will be held on Friday, February 17th. Yenchen battled the last three rounds with seventh grader, Lexi Mickelson, who finished in second place. The third place finisher was sixth grade student Jenna Boeck who went out in the 18th round. Congratulations to all the contestants and to all their teachers!
The school board adopted the proposed Activities Code changes on December 5. The new code will go into effect for the 2012/13 season. For the most part, the number of steps for AODA violations will go from five to three.
To obtain a work permit, the minor or parent must visit the permit officer, taking with them the minor's birth certificate or other proof of age, social security card, hiring statement from the employer explaining job duties and hours of work, written parental consent and a $10.00 fee. During the school year, work permits are issues at the high school office during regular office hours.
Conflict and frustration are often the results of assumptions and unfulfilled expectations. A group agreement anticipates misunderstandings and make expectations known. When members know what to expect of one another, their energy can be directed toward their work, members can share responsibility for making sure the agreements are followed, and trust is reinforced.
