State + Standardized Tests

Students enrolled in courses during the school year are encouraged to begin preparing early for their exams. School state testing works by giving students standardized exams that measure their knowledge and skills. These tests are usually taken once a year and are designed to be the same for all students in a grade level across the state. These tests give teachers and schools useful information about students’ strengths and areas where they may need extra support.

For those in AP classes, each exam costs $90. AP Exam Fee Reductions may be available for eligible students—please contact the Counseling Department for more information and support. Registration is due in November, so please be sure to complete the process before the deadline. All AP Exam registrations for May testing are coordinated through the Counseling Office. Taking AP courses and exams is an excellent way to challenge yourself academically and potentially earn college credit.
