Books in the Park 2012 at 10th Street Park
Visit Books in the Park and special guest, Mocha Joe on June 15, June 29, July 13 and July 27; 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Why? Because when children don't read enough in the summer, they lose many skills they learned during the school year. This is called the "summer slide." One way that we are working to combat the summer slide is by providing free books and activities in the park! Our thanks to the Altoona Children's Council, Pedersen Elementary PTO and a generous anonymous donor for supplying books!

March 2011 School Perceptions Survey Results
To assist in understanding the issues surrounding the lack of support for the referendum, a survey was created in collaboration with the students from the INGMT-750 Organizational Development Course and Dr. Kersten, University Of Wisconsin, Stout. This survey consisted of both qualitative and quantitative measures to gain the best insight into the views of the public. The audience selected for this survey was the parents and staff of the Altoona School District.

Did you know?
Alert! Be aware! The Altoona Athletic Boosters is the only organization that produces a "sports calendar" or poster to promote our athletic events. If your business has been contacted to buy advertising by any company or organization other than the Altoona Athletic Boosters, you may have been "scammed." These companies operate under names like Athletic Boosters Inc. or Sport Media. In August, Sports Media fraudulently "sold an ad" in the amount of $139 to a local business - supposedly for an 2010/11 Winter Sports Poster for Altoona High School.
