5th Grade - Beginning Band Instrument Rental Night

Hello all beginning band students and parents,
This is Mr. Kruszka, the band director for the school district, and I just wanted to make you
aware of an event we’re hosting at Altoona Middle School Tuesday, May 3rd. We will have both
Eckroth Music and Schmitt Music here for our Instrument Rental Night. Here are a few important
details about the event.
-When? Tuesday, May 3rd 6-7:30pm
-Where? The MS commons, enter through the MS main entrance
-Our goal is to have as many students as possible prepared for band on day one of next year.
This means that students that are renting an instrument will have it for the first day of class.
-PERCUSSION (drums/mallets): I ask that all students interested in percussion have either
taken at least a year of piano lessons OR are taking private drum lessons. Please contact me if
your child(ren) is/are interested in playing percussion next year.
-Both music stores will be on campus to help get rental plans set up for our students and
families. I will send out some price lists for families to look at before this event. We have both
stores here to hopefully prevent you from waiting in line for too long.
-We are not asking you to actually receive your instrument at this event. Instead, we are making
arrangements to ensure the students get their instruments at the start of next school year. If you
would like your student to get an instrument early for any reason, you may work that out with the
store but the expectation is that the students will receive these instruments at the beginning of
next school year.
-Students were able to try out some instruments before spring break. If a student was unable to
try an instrument due to absence, please contact me and I will send some resources to help
them make a decision.
-I will also be present at this event if you do have any instrument-related questions or questions
about band in general.
