School Board Vacancy 2026

The board vacancy will be filled by an appointment made by the remaining members of the Board.  All prospective candidates should submit a letter of interest to Board President, Jeremy Zook, in care of Lisa Boss, Board Secretary, District Office, 1903 Bartlett Ave, Altoona, WI 54720.  Letters must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.  The appointment, which will run through April 2027, will be made at the March 16, 2026, board meeting.

No nomination signatures are needed for this appointment process.

Eligibility Requirements
At a minimum, state law requires any individual who is filling a school board vacancy to be a resident and qualified elector of the school district.  Accordingly, the same age, citizenship, residency, and voting qualification requirements (e.g. freedom from any unpardoned felony convictions) that apply to declared candidates in school board elections also apply to any potential appointee.

On or before the date of the board meeting at which the Board considers the potential appointees (March 9, 2026), each potential appointee shall also submit a sworn declaration of eligibility to hold the vacant board seat.

School Board Spring 2026 Election Information

Three candidates have filed and will appear on the April 7th Spring Election Ballot. There are two open seats for a term of office of three years (2026-2029) and one seat for a term of two years (2026-2028) beginning April 27, 2026.  The two candidates with the higher vote total will hold office for three years.
