Part-time Custodian - 2nd Shift

School District of Altoona has an opening for a 3 hour/day part time 2nd shift custodian at Altoona Early Education Center, 754 Bartlett Ave. 

Hours: 4pm- 7pm Monday through Friday, and or other as directed

Position start date: as soon as possible

Responsibilities:

  • Sweeps, cleans, mops or vacuums classrooms, offices, and hallways according to CCAP (Cleaning Cost Analysis Program) procedures.
  • Cleans bathrooms daily.
  • Keeps all walkways, entryways and steps clear of snow and/or other debris.
  • Performs minor repairs.
  • Performs routine maintenance and up keep of lighting fixtures.
  • Ensures all paper products are kept in supply and appropriate dispensers are filled.
  • Maintains appropriate inventories of all custodial supplies.
  • Sets up seating and equipment for all activities at the direction of the Maintenance Team Supervisor, principal or his/her designee.
  • Moves furniture at the direction of the Maintenance Team Supervisor, principal or his/her designee
  • Maintains building security
  • Is able to work occasional additional hours and/or weekend days as directed by the Maintenance Team Supervisor, principal or his/her designee.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Team Supervisor, principal or his/her designee.

Qualifications:

  • Possess high school diploma or formal equivalent.
  • Maintain valid Wisconsin drivers license (or ability to secure within six months) and good driving record.
  • Demonstrates good work habits.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow directions.
  • Has ability to follow safety rules.
  • Works with little direct supervision.
  • Has ability to use custodial equipment.
  • Has ability to lift and move 70 pounds.
  • Has basic math, reading and writing skills.
  • Has basic plumbing, cleaning, electrical and painting skills.
  • Maintains appropriate personal hygiene, appearance and dress.
  • Works well with students, staff and the general public.
  • Maintains First Aid and CPR Certification (or secures within one semester of employment).
  • Receives an acceptable score on the entry-level custodial exam.

Preferred Qualifications:  Additional technical college course work.
